BREAKING: Dave Burris to consider running for governor in Levin’s stead!!!

More to come…soon? But this is 100% accurate and true. In a conference call today with a cabal of powerful GOP-folk, this announcement was made by Burris himself who said he’s giving serious consideration for a run for governor.

Can’t let Protack have all the fun now, can we?

Update: Well, shit! Burris broke his news just minutes before I did. Good luck, Burris!

  1. WTF? says:

Burris is full of shit. He won’t run when it comes down to it. He loves the attention but doesn’t have the guts. Protack will beat him in a primary and Dave won’t take that chance.

  2. ANNONY says:

yeah and i’m gonna run for prez.

  3. anon says:

If Burris runs (LOL!!) I wager he will live to regret the smear campaign he waged against Protack. It revealed his character and temperament in an extremely bad light. His party connections wont overcome that vicious paper trail no matter how much he wants to convince himself that people dont like Protack. A lot of average GOPers out there want change. A rehash of the Burris name is not it. Protack has already stood for election once and damn near beat the party favorite. Burris may be known to insiders but outside of that no one knows who he is. Most might think his dad is running again.

Like him or not Protack has been working the base for a lot of years and has respect in the grassroots. The Levin debacle only shows more that the party leaders have no fucking clue including about Protack. In fact Protack predicted this all along and not just as wishful thinking. It shows some pretty good instincts on his part.

The GOP base might have gone for Levin but with him out of the way they are more likely to reward Protack for his efforts over the years. A rigged convention would only play into Protack’s hands and hand him a primary win. Burris would be a total fool to run. He has even less credentials than Protack for the job and would probably lose the primary once all that nastiness is brought to their attention. A Protack beating of Burris would end Burris for good. He cant want that. But Protack would sure love it.

  4. Just me says:

….and let me guess Terry Strine or Vince Phillips will be his running mate for lt. Gov. HaHaHa. This is truely ridiculous.

  5. anon says:

    (LOL) oh never mind.

  6. miscreant says:

“A Protack beating of Burris would end Burris for good. He cant want that. But Protack would sure love it.”

No doubt that Protack is choking his chicken at the thought of competing with Burris, and I’m sure he’d be delighted to let you join him.

  7. WTF? says:

    Protack 61% Burris 39%

  8. Little Willie says:

Dave Burris? The guy that questioned the size of my penis? The guy that goes by FSP? I don’t believe it. He’s just like happy Harry = Fat and ugly. FSP is a ittle punk political wantabe.
He promotes occultist presidentual candidates that can’t be trusted. Burris is a little sleez ball that the state of delaware can do without.
Just remember one thing, the apple don’t fall too far from the tree. I do hope he will run so all the sleezy shit that he has done can come out and finish he stinking ass off for good. And yes FSP I do have a little one and you like those big beer can size like Fosters.

  9. FSP says:

How many of you are John Atkins and how many are the Protack trolls? I can’t keep track.

  10. Al Mascitti says:

anon: A “smear campaign” is when you say something that isn’t true. Everything Dave said about Mike Protack was true.

If, by “working the grassroots” you mean speaking at VFW halls, and it has truly benefited him, then why has he never even held a fund-raising event? Why won’t anybody give him $100? Don’t point to the votes against Ting in the primary; five thousand people does not a gubernatorial candidate make. I’d be more impressed if one of them would step up and donate enough to be required to reveal his name.

By the way, Protack has stood for election at least three times. He hasn’t been rejected by his party just once. He keeps making a habit of it.

  11. Observer says:

Dave, shouldn’t you be out knocking on doors? With all sincerity Dave, this is by far the dumbest idea you have come up with so far.

  12. Jim says:

Little Willie,,,,,,,,You just lost your argument when you lowered yourself with all the name calling.

  13. Little Willie says:

ok Dave. I mean Jim (WINK WINK).

  14. Lady Luck says:

Maybe Burris can partner with State Sen Charlie Copeland, the self appointed loyalty judge for party support. You know Copeland, the same guy who challenged an incumbent State Senator, Dallas Winslow. You know the rules are different for DuPont trust fund boys. The rest of us, the unwashed masses aren’t good enough for Sir Copeland.

  15. Kilroy Was Here says:

    Kilroy for Governor !!

I promise castration for all school board members
Pot in every chicken ! I mean chicken in every pot!

  16. Jim says:

Frank Knotts would make a good canadate. A real common sense guy.

  17. Who ever YOU want it to be says:

Solution to many political problems on the state level: put Strine & Daniello in a green garbage bag and toss it off the DE Memorial Bridge. It’s all about ‘We, the people’ (or it should be).

  18. RickJ says:

I would wager that anyone who can get 6000 votes in a primary will beat Protack. He’s never achieved thay high-water mark in his elective history.

Let that sink in. The self-appointed savior of the working class GOP has never gotten more than .7% of Delawareans to vote for him. The champion of unions has never gotten a union endorsement (or donation exceeding the reporting threshold). Money doesn’t always equal votes, but the steadfast refusal of Delawareans to support Protack in any way should be a hint.

My guess is that (provided there aren’t any major revelations about the two candidates), should it be a two horse race between Burris and Protack, Burris would win 57-43. Protack would call that a victory, since he got 40% in his greatest election ever. He would then offer zero support to the nominee, and his sock puppets would continue to attack Burris through the General, so that if the Dem wins, he can continue to state that he is the only one who can save the GOP in Delaware.

  19. Little Willie says:

Don’tcha just love it when Dave posts under the name RickJ?

  20. anon says:

This is beyond farce. Burris pops up on the scene as a blogger / big mouth less than 2 years ago. Remember that wacko anonymous blog he ran. Then he decided to try for some credibility with a new blog. Now he wants to be Governor. He has no record to run on other than some very recent political gameplaying. He has accomplished little or nothing with that other than a bunch of noise. The Repubs are about to lose the House and this guy is dreaming about Woodburn. What a joke.

  21. Al Mascitti says:

What’s beyond farce is you Protack supporter(s) — you have plenty of time for anonymous posting, but not enough money to give $100 to your hero. Sounds to me like Protack appeals mainly to deadbeats.

  22. Dana Garrett says:

“Just remember one thing, the apple don’t fall too far from the tree.”

For the sake of you children, hopefully grammatical skills are subject to the same genetic fate.

  23. Dana Garrett says:

    OOPS: “aren’t”

    (Busted!)

  24. Freud says:

    Dana,
My research says that you subconsciously meant that the parental traits will follow with the children.

More of a curse on them and their children, than salvation for the children in spite of the parents.

    Although I could be dreaming.

    [ Blows smoke ring… ]

  25. Conscience of the GOP Visionary Voice That's Not Protack says:

Whatever, you anonymous cowards. Drive carefully!

  26. Dana Garrett says:

Freud, your analysis of my slip was incisive. :)

  27. liz allen says:

Mike; I guess I left the room for a minute…where is this proof Mascitti says he has?

What proof! Some in the know…no the post card litter came from two guys in Sussex….so again Al where is your proof?

Don’t ya just love it, when info entertainer talk show hosts tell “we the people” who “we” should or should not vote for…

  28. required says:

for all the interesting information this blog presents, nothing is more entertaining than post menopausal women and overweight, old men bitching at each other over and over and over again.

  29. RickJ says:

    liz,

The only person who claims to know who is sending information similar to those on the postcards is Protack himself.

The following is from FSP ( http://firststatepolitics.word.....postcards/ ):

On December 11, 2006, Mike Protack sent me an e-mail complaining of a meeting held on the 5th and attaching a letter “Survival of the GOP 2,” that he proposed to send to Republican delegates. The letter [posted here] included the usual Protack rant about several individuals in leadership positions and was tagged by Microsoft Word as being authored by “Protack.” An earlier letter, “Survival of the GOP”, had recently arrived in mailboxes and can be seen on this Down With Absolutes post.

Here is the interesting part – after I suggested that the letter was inappropriate he responded:

    “Dave,
That was the wrong document, the one that is correct is attached. By hook and crook I found out the person who sent out the first anonymous letter and they sent me their second letter which I convinced this person not to send.
My apologies to you. I almost had a stroke when I saw the wrong one.
    Here is the correct one.
By the way, the author of the first letter does live in Sussex.
    Mike”

In other words, Mike Protack had admitted in December to knowing who was sending out the anonymous messages.

Also, in the letter I received by email from Protack titled “Survival of the GOP 2,” you see the following: “Ed Colaprete/Colonial- stop dyeing your hair and work to build the fastest growing part of the state.”

In the pink postcard that hit 8/4: “…I hear Ed Colaprete should stop dyeing his hair And get his region together…“

Mike has never given up the name of “the mystery writer” - and anyone with half a brain would assume that it’s because that person doesn’t exist.

  30. Jim says:

Mike Protack for governer,,,,,I don’t think so,,,,,,much too plastic.

  31. anon says:

Burris won’t give up the identity of “RickJ”. Should we also assume “RickJ” doesn’t exist? Sorry “RickJ” but your so called evidence against Protack is literally made up by a handful of people who have just about made a second job of bashing Protack. Burris has yet to present a single shred of real evidence to tie Protack to anything. We are all supposed to take Burris’s word for it along with his own little army of nasty trolls. That whole smear campaign stank from day one. It strikes me as a set up and it was all just a little too convenient for Burris and the Levin worshipers. Like they had it all planned out for a long time starting with sending the postcards themselves. Burris aka the wacko “delathought” is a big fat hypocrite. Before you Burris trolls or fatass Mascitti pull out your tired routine I am not Protack or one of his supporters either.

  32. RickJ says:

First of all, people who use pseudonyms can’t effectively castigate others who do the same.

Secondly, there are many others besides Burris and myself who have objectively looked at the mounting evidence that Protack had/has sock puppets operating out of his home and reached the same conclusion as the rest of us. Unless you believe “Liberalgeek” at DelawareLiberal is part of the evil GOP cabal that’s out to besmirch Protack, your story begins to fall apart.

In 2004, your fearless leader lied about his finances, misrepresenting the amount of money he raised. That’s a violation of campaign finance laws. He was called on it by the News Journal, and halfheartedly apologized. His financial shenanigans don’t end there, though. I would be happy to detail them all, but it’s occurred to me that this post wasn’t about Mike Protack and his rampant and verifiable election violations - it’s about Dave Burris (who I am not). I will, however, state this easily verifiable fact about Mike Protack: In all of his quixotic runs for office, he has received very few donations that exceeded the remarkably low standard for itemized reporting. During his runs, no person who thought he was worth a donation of $100 thought he was worth it in 2006. What that tells me is that those who get to know him realize that he’s a lost cause.

  33. Little Willie says:

Burris running for Governor. What a joke. Every time the Burris name is put on a ballot state wide it is rejected over and over and over.
It can not compete with real people.

BURRIS & LOOSING are perfect together.

  34. RickJ says:

BURRIS & LOOSING are perfect together.

To the best of my knowledge, the Burris name is one for two in statewide elections (A victory in a statewide primary, and a loss in the general). There might be some uncles I don’t know about, though.

Other declared names in the Republican race have a lower success rate than that. I won’t name names, though.

  35. RickJ says:

    By the way, “LOOSING”?

  36. FSP says:

Not to mention that the name “Burris” has won over 10 elections. But hey, when you’re a compete moron, math usually isn’t a strong point, either.

One thing the name “Burris” hasn’t done is finish third in a primary election or third in a special election.

    Enjoy your weekend, John.

  37. anon says:

Sorry RickJ your evidence is zilch. It is all say so. Again I dont support Protack so you can shove your fearless leader talk where the sun doesnt shine. Bullshit is bullshit and youre a peddler of it. By the way show me a Republican liberalgeek doesnt bash. They are laughing it up at the Repubs destroying their own candidates. You think because he joined in your piling on that it makes your bullshit bipartisan. How precious.

  38. Little Willie says:

FSP, you’re so cold, I’m not Feroce! Keep guessing though.

  39. FSP says:

Not Feroce. You know who you are, fool.

  40. Little Willie says:

    Whatever you say…… Governor….(LOL)!!!!

  41. FSP says:

Put the bottle down, Willie. You can do it.

  42. RickJ says:

In 2004, Protack announced that he had $20,000 to $25,000 in the bank when questioned about his incomplete finance reports. He had $9188. That was a lie straight from his mouth. These matters were all widely reported in the News Journal, with quotes attributed to Mike admitting to his falsehoods.

You “don’t support Protack”, but you have invented a cottage industry where he has people working to discredit him.

Personally, here’s how I tried to discredit him in 2004. He would send out a press release. I would print it verbatim, misspellings and all. The man misspelled “teachers” in a paper on Educational Fairness. He misspelled “Governor” on another!

He doesn’t get my respect because he’s done nothing to earn it, besides show up on a ballot and make a jackass of himself. He’s lied on his finance reports, which means he thinks he’s allowed to lie to voters. He’s wrong.

  43. Attack Machine says:

Burris just wants to get in the race to get paid.
Real estate hustler that wants votes to move up the chain. It aint gonna happen. Union hater. Blue collar hater. Candidate hater of his own party. Just what we need is a governor of hate.

MY NAME IS DAVE BURRIS AND I HATE EVERYONE THAT DON”T MAKE $250,000 or more yearly and I want to be your governor to keep the blue collar scum in their place. All union officials will be sentenced to death the day after my swearing in.

  44. Mat Marshall says:

MY NAME IS DAVE BURRIS AND I HATE EVERYONE THAT DON”T MAKE $250,000 or more yearly and I want to be your governor to keep the blue collar scum in their place. All union officials will be sentenced to death the day after my swearing in.

Holy shit! That impression! Wow! Dave, is that you!?

  45. Nancy Willing says:

RickJ, you were being paid by Lee? I ask because it came out that you started a blog for him.

  46. FSP says:

“Burris just wants to get in the race to get paid”

How exactly does that work? Has anyone ever run for office where it hasn’t COST them a lot of money?

The rest of your drivel doesn’t deserve a response.

  47. RickJ says:

It didn’t come out - I announced it. Strictly as a fan, although by the end of the race I knew his campaign manager pretty well - and she knew me well enough to avoid my calls.

  48. Attack Machine says:

Burris is out of control but he won’t run.
Rt. 52 won’t let it happen. To much left over baggage.

  49. FSP says:

Attack Machine — You didn’t answer my question from your last discredited smear. How does one get paid by running for Governor?

  50. Attack Machine says:

When one wins, which you can’t! Get over yourself!

  51. FSP says:

Honestly, I can hear you after your comments in the most hilarious Dr. Evil villain laugh saying, “MMMMMWWWWWAAAAAHHAHAHAHA!”

    It cracks me up.

  52. Attack Machine says:

    That $$$ NBANA $$$ ????

  53. Nancy Willing says:

Attack Machine you are being too cryptic. Spell it out. What is NBANA?
