Why do we pay them?

Michelle Malkin’s bitching about the mortgage bail out. I’m more interested in the “Not Voting” names. You know, McCain and Obama?

Why in the fuck are they still collecting a Senate salary if they’re not showing up to do their job? Does this bother anyone else?

Clinton’s on the list, too. Hasn’t that wench picked herself up from her depression yet? Get back to work, shrew! (Hi, Dominique!)

I don’t care about Obama and McCain not voting, because they are campaigning for the presidency. If either one loses, they should be allowed to return to the job and serve as long as their constituents want them to. They shouldn’t have to resign to run for President.

    Teddy Kennedy has an excuse.

And Hillary is allowed to have some time off to recoup from the long campaign. She was back at work today, obviously heeding your advice.

I didn’t say they should have to resign. But they surely shouldn’t be paid.

  3. Dominique says:

    grrr.

It’s not like Obama was doing much to earn his salary before he ran, so maybe he should pay it all back (hi Jason!).

  4. Delaware Dem says:

Why do you take this sexist abuse, Dom? You should rise up and overthrow Mike.

    :)

Not paying them is a good idea. Treat it like a leave of absence or a sabbatical.

  5. Pandora says:

I’m with Mike on this. They have a job. Show up to vote or forfeit the salary. Actually, I prefer they vote.

  6. G Rex says:

At least Obama and McCain cancel each others’ vote (or non-vote) out, but I agree with the sabbatical idea.

  7. G Rex says:

Oh, and if I was out interviewing for a new job, I wouldn’t expect my present employer to let me stay clocked in.

  8. No Name for Privacy says:

They need to keep the home fires burning. That takes money…campaign funds can not be used (legally).
